The episode starts with Rishi seeing smoke coming out of the kitchen. The family runs to the place. They are stunned to see the kitchen on fire. Arshi wonders who could have done such a thing on a very auspicious day.
A waiter says that he saw a girl going into the kitchen just before the fire started. Rishi froze when he saw Jhanak inside and she was gasping for air. He didn't hesitate for a moment to smash through the door and rescue her with his face full of anxiety. Tanushri comes to his help and asks if he is okay but Rishi's only answer is Jhanak who is unconscious in his arms.
At the hospital, Rishi is sprinkling water on Jhanak's face but she is still unresponsive. He is very adamant that they should take her to a doctor at once. Dritiman wants to bring the car while Anirudh is very sarcastic and asks if Jhanak is even alive.
Rishi looks at him with anger and says that he wants Jhanak dead if he is saying that. Indumati asks Rishi why he put his life in danger for Jhanak while Aditi tells him that Jhanak will be his downfall. Arshi, with a very serious expression, says that maybe Jhanak is already dead.
In the hospital room, Aditi again questions Rishi why he put his life in danger. Rishi just answers that he couldn't bear the thought of seeing Jhanak die. He also reminds Aditi that it was Jhanak who gave up her own place in the family so that Aditi could be the Chatterjees’ daughter-in-law.
Aditi laughs and says that their bond was stronger even before Jhanak came into their lives. Neelu supports her and refers to Jhanak as a curse while Rishi stops them all and asks for respect in the hospital.
Dritiman wants to start the investigation about the fire but Aditi immediately points out that it was Jhanak who was careless. Rishi, on the contrary, thinks that it is a deliberate act - someone set the fire intentionally and it is probably a foe of Jhanak.
Aditi mocks the idea while Rishi is standing like a rock and says that the police have already been informed. He tells Sanjhbati to keep Jhanak company and says sorry to Dritiman for the Aashirwad that didn't go well.
Jhanak eventually comes back to her senses with her eyes half-opened and the first person that she sees is Sanjhbati who looks worried. Jhanak is the first one to put the blame on herself for ruining the ceremony but Sanjhbati assures her it isn't so. Rishi and Dritiman are coming in and Rishi asks if she is okay.
Jhanak coughing, returns the same question to him. Aditi and Neelu come uninvited and Jhanak asks Aditi not to be angry with her. She tells her that she just went into the kitchen to give the food to the waiter because he asked her and she doesn't know how the fire started. Aditi, on the other hand, accuses Jhanak of being the reason that Rishi's life was in danger.
The doctor is very insistent that Rishi should be checked as well since he is the one complaining of a burning sensation. She is ordering him to stay for two days for observation. Dritiman is reassuring everyone that he will be the one to bring them both home soon.
Aditi, however, is making it very clear that Rishi is the only one she cares about. Sanjhbati reminds her that both of them are suffering, Rishi and Jhanak, but Aditi retorts by accusing Sanjhbati of being partial to Jhanak. Neelu also blaming Jhanak's carelessness for the fire, steps in to support Aditi.
Jhanak who is still recovering from the incident tells Rishi that she did smell something weird in the kitchen right before the fire broke out. Rishi, however, is not brutal with her and tells her to take rest. He only leaves her side when the doctor comes to call him for his checkup.
On the other hand, Tanushri is telling Indumati that she is very scared for Rishi. Indumati trying to calm her down says that Aditi is the one to take care of him. Tanushri is in pieces and she asks herself why Rishi would put his life in danger just for Jhanak.
Dadabhai comes to Jhanak's rescue saying that she is not a careless person, but Abhimanyu makes his entrance with the news about Rishi's admission for observation. Tanushri can't hold it anymore and bursts into tears confirming her worst fears.
At the hospital, Neelu is telling Aditi that Rishi's room is the closest to Jhanak's. Aditi with a sneer on her face, says that Rishi will probably be taking care of Jhanak all the time and thus, not be able to spend with her own family.
Neelu says that if Aditi hadn't brought Jhanak into the house, she wouldn't be in this mess now but Aditi lets out her real reason: she wanted to be able to watch Rishi and Jhanak at all times.
She even concedes that she can't be with Rishi if he loves Jhanak, her voice breaking with anger. Neelu points out to her that only Aditi has the rights over Rishi and the Chatterjee family, but Aditi with a bitter smile saying that rights are worthless if Rishi doesn't feel the same way dismisses this.
The episode ends with Rishi and Jhanak sharing a silent look, reminiscing the times they had together—the times that have connected them in a way no one else can comprehend.
